interviews.During my career, I have interviewed a range of musical artists from an array of different genres. I've always maintained that you need to recognise what your audience wants to read and adjust your interview approach accordingly. While some artists are more than happy to reel off the press release for their latest album, I think it's necessary to adapt to the conversation, persevering to get the quote that could shape your entire article. I always try to capture the mood of the conversation in each article and give the reader a picture of the artist as a person, rather than just the mouth that sings their favourite songs. Everyone knows, before you have to convince the artist to give you a quote, you need to convince their management to give you the interview. During my time in journalism, I've developed strong relationships with a number of management agencies and PR companies which has allowed me the opportunity to interview a wide range of musicians, from those just starting out to those just beginning their ninth national tour. examples.Girl, Interrupted (PDF download).
